Women's Health
We recognise our patients’ needs change as they move through various stages and we focus on taking a holistic, preventative approach to your healthcare. Highlands General Practice includes the following women’s health services:
- Cervical screening
- Breast checks
- Family planning advice (including Implanon and Mirena insertion)
- Nutrition advice and weight management
- Feeding support and lactation consultant
- Pregnancy and shared ante natal care service
- Menopause management
- Immunisations
- Chronic disease management
- Mental health support
- Skin checks
- Sexual health.
Dr Jenny Loxton is also a Lactation Consultant and is available at the Bowral Street clinic to provide breast feeding advice, both ante and post-natally.
Chronic Disease Management
At Highlands General Practice we want to work with patients to manage chronic diseases to assist patients to be able to live independently and actively.
Conditions such as COPD, hypertension, osteoporosis, renal conditions, asthma, arthritis and chronic pain all require regular review and management and eligible chronic disease management assessments and plans will be bulk billed.
An annual Health Assessment is offered to patients who are over 75 and/or have a chronic health condition. Eligible patients will be bulk-billed for the Health Assessment and associated care plans.
Health Assessments are designed to review a persons overall health and wellbeing. It also helps to identify any specialist care and/or allied health services such as podiatry, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, etc patients could benefit from to support independent living.
Highlands General Practice can arrange for you to have a Health Assessments either at the practice or one of our nursing team can visit you at home.
