Dr Sam Nashi joined Highlands GP in February 2022 to complete his training towards his Fellowship with the RACGP. In 2012, Dr Nashi finished his undergraduate Medical Degree at the University of Leeds in the UK. He also completed a Masters of Anatomy at the University of Birmingham and a Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Education at Cardiff University. Dr Nashi has worked extensively for the NHS and in large metro hospital settings.

Dr Sophia Macken is a GP Registrar who is excited to return to her hometown in the Southern Highlands. Since obtaining her Medical Degree from the University of NSW in 2020, Dr Macken has been working in Wagga Wagga, NSW. Dr Macken is passionate about providing comprehensive, holistic care to her patients.
Paediatrics & Women’s Health
Dr Andreas Rauch was born in Germany and obtained his medical degree there in 2004. After working in Germany and Switzerland he followed his wife to Australia where he has worked mainly in Emergency Departments and pre-hospital services for the past 16 years.
Cardiac Care, Emergency Health, Men’s Care
Dr Olivia Cook completed a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Notre Dame prior to undertaking hospital training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
In 2022 she moved to the Southern Highlands with her young family and undertook further studies in paediatrics, completing the Sydney Child Health Program.
Geriatric Medicine, Paediatrics, Chronic Disease Management
Dr Noel-Gough is a GP Registrar who joined Highlands GP in 2025. He completed medical school at UoW and then went on to work within the Illawarra/Shoalhaven health network initially, before further training in Hunter New England health network.
Dr Noel-Gough was born and raised in Jamberoo and has returned home in order to complete his training and settle in the Southern Highlands
Emergency Health, General Medicine
Originally from Ireland, Dr Piers Deignan graduated from University College Dublin in 2020 with a Bachelor of Medicine, Surgery, and Obstetrics.
Dr Piers relocated to Australia in 2022, where he continued his career in healthcare and has experience working in emergency care, paediatrics, and care of the elderly.
He has a particular interest in preventative and lifestyle medicine, having completed specialized training with the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. Other special interests includes sports medicine and men’s health.

Dr Ngan Nguyen is a GP Registrar who completed her medical degree at Western Sydney University.
She has since worked in various Emergency Departments across NSW including Blacktown, Mount Druitt, Bathurst and Goulburn before joining Highlands General Practice in 2024.
Dr Nguyen has a keen interest in comprehensive healthcare and building positive therapeutic relationships with her patients.
Our medical students are on placement during their third year of studies.
Marc is a student from the University of Wollongong’s School of Medicine. Over the next 6 months, he will be involved in all facets of the practice and learning from the highly experienced doctors at Highlands GP.
When Marc isn’t studying, he enjoys reading and volunteering for St Johns Ambulance which he has done for over 8 years now!
We have a fantastic team of experienced and highly skilled nurses who have a special interest in general practice. They work in partnership with our doctors to provide support and care to our patients and their families. Our nursing team provide key services to support our chronic care patients and we have several nurse lead clinics including wound care and INR management.
In addition, our nursing team play a key role to work with local residential aged care facilities to facilitate communication and patient care.
Alicia Mah is a highly experienced Nurse Practitioner and has been working at Highlands General Practice since 2011. Alicia worked locally at the Southern Highlands Private Hospital and general practice prior to joining Highlands GP. Alicia is available to take appointments.
Wound Management, Teenage Sexual Health, Women’s Health and Travel Health
Our reception team are the face of Highlands General Practice and as the first point of contact for our patients provide a warm and friendly welcome to the practice. The wonderful members of our reception team come from a range of industries and roles but the key skills and attributes they all have in common are the ability to listen, empathise, keep calm, focus on finding a solution support our patients and work as part of busy team.
