Flu & Covid Clinics

Appointments in our Flu Clinics are now open at both the Bowral and Moss Vale practices. Public (free) and Private vaccines are available at all our Flu Clinics. The cell based vaccine is also available for those with egg allergy.

Please note that appointment availability is subject to the number of vaccines Highlands GP receives. In the first few weeks, Flu Clinics may become fully booked before more appointments can be allocated.

To make a booking, select Bowral Appointments or Moss Vale Appointments or download the HotDoc app.

There are two types of Flu vaccines: Public and Private. Public vaccines are Government funded and are free to those who are:

• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 6 months and over
• Children aged 6 months to under 5 years
• Pregnant people at any stage of their pregnancy
• People aged 65 and over
• People aged 6 months and over who have medical conditions which mean they have a higher risk of getting serious disease.

Private vaccines have incur a standard fee of $27 and are available for those who do not meet the criteria listed above.

Please note that you may be eligible to receive a Covid booster and Flu vaccine on the same day however this is at the discretion of the clinical vaccine provider at Highlands GP.

The recommended minimum time between Flu and any other vaccine is still 14 days (unless you receive the Covid vaccine at the same time).
Highlands GP is now receiving regular deliveries of the booster vaccine and has been able to open appointments in our Covid Clinics, on an ongoing basis.

For all Covid Clinics, either Bivalent Moderna or Bivalent Pfizer vaccines will be used, depending on stock levels.

From 10/03/23, we will be receiving the Pfizer Bivalent BA.4-5 booster. This vaccine is suitable for those aged 12+, however the guidelines still only recommend a booster for those aged under 18 if they are severely immunocompromised.

If you have any concerns about whether this vaccine is appropriate for you, please book a consultation with your regular GP to discuss further.

Whilst there are no mandatory isolation requirements for those who have tested positive for Covid, NSW Health still strongly recommends that you remain at home if you have tested positive, have active symptoms or have any other flu like/respiratory symptoms.

To maintain the safety and health of our patients, teams, doctors and their families, Highlands GP is asking patients to please adhere to the practices’ precautionary measures which include:

  • Wearing a mask inside the practice at all times.
  • Answering covid and respiratory symptom screening questions from both Reception and clinical team members.
  • Refraining from entering the practice if you have any flu like/respiratory symptoms.

Covid Oral antiviral treatments are now available through the PBS (Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme) to help treat Covid illness for eligible patients.

There are two antiviral treatments available and the most appropriate treatment for you will depend on your medical history and current medications.

If you receive a positive Covid test we would encourage you to make a Telehealth appointment with your doctor as soon as possible, to determine the most appropriate treatment for you.
